What exactly is a "fist bump?"

Personally I started using it as a means of saying hello, when at the comedy club I realized that comedians were OCD. They didn't want to shake hands due to not wanting to get dirty, so the fist bump is used. I never really thought about it further, I fist bump fellow comedians, I fist bump when I play sports and as a way of saying hello to friends. However, I never felt the need to have it explained to me by CNN.

Yes, in this ridiculous cycle of 24 hour news, CNN too the time to explain to "White America" exactly what a fist bump is.
